What is Remediation?This is an immersive theater show that includes video content and live music. It's one of three performances that, along with a scripted fiction podcast, tell one ever-expanding dystopian tale on a sprawling post-apocalyptic timeline based in the mid-90s. Remediation premiered in 2023 with two sold out nights. Over 125 ThotBot shows in total have sold out since 2019.What does "immersive" mean?"Immersive" means many things to many people, but for me it means you are stepping into another world. Every effort is taken to transform the space into what appears to be an actual underground meeting of the Resistance in a post-apocalyptic mid-90s universe. You, as the audience, are assumed to be citizens of this world and are addressed as such. You would be attending this meeting presumably because you've come to the realization that ThotBot isn't what it was promised to be and you are looking to glitch, thus subverting government control.What is the level of participation?It's optional! Throughout the show, there are fun little quizzes (no spoilers). You can raise your hand to participate with a chance to win prizes. Additionally, attire that obscures identity or face paint/masks/etc that hide your face will be encouraged. Cause if you were actually at a meeting like this and it was busted by The ULTRA, you wouldn't want to be identified as you were making your escape. If caught, you might be eradicated. We wouldn't want that.What is ThotBot?ThotBot is a brain implant at the center of a dystopian storyworld created by Somerville artist Rebecca Kopycinski. In this world, an apocalyptic event called Impact occurred on June 21, 1995. In the aftermath, a fascist regime known as The ULTRA rose to power and promised deliverance from the chaos, destruction, and suffering through a brain implant program called ThotBot that erases memories, dulls emotions, and rewards obedience with Value that can be exchanged for Redemption. Whereas the story is woven together across three shows and a podcast, each one building upon the other, they also stand alone. I make certain that one needs no prior knowledge to enjoy any show. If you end up getting hooked, good news, there's more content where that came from. If you want some outside perspective, there were one or two great articles written during the six month run of one of the other shows that speak to the concept and quality of my work.Who is the artist?Rebecca Kopycinski is a Somerville-based singer, filmmaker, and multimedia performing artist. GetThotBot@gmail.comWhat's the venue?The Impeccable Art Gallery is in the SoWa area of Boston at 460 Harrison Ave. It's BYOB! No liquor, though, please. There will be wayfinding signage. The gallery is on the ground floor. The show is seated. There is paid parking nearby under 93. It's 0.6 miles from the Tufts Medical stop on the Orange Line and 0.5 miles from the Broadway stop on the Red Line.
